What informs your choice of shoe?
Hi guys, let’s think of ourselves for a minute. Lets research on some issues concerning us. To be honest with you, I just learnt about some of the shoe names but I would not reveal how plenty or how little I knew about the various male shoe names before now.
The following are type of male shoes you can find around
Originally known as Balmorals in England, oxfords are leather shoes with a low instep, closed lacing and a non-rubber sole. Modern oxfords, however, may be constructed from suede
or synthetic materials according to the designer’s taste, but no matter the material used to construct them, oxfords are usually quite plain with few — if any — embellishments. This type of shoe best fits formal outings.
As a young lad, this was about the only shoe I knew its name.Loafers looks sporty as well as official on the wearer. It is known to have no lace or buckle. Traditionally made from leather, loafers are slip-on shoes that resemble a moccasin on top, but have a wide and fairly flat heel. Many loafers have tassels, although these are often dispensed with nowadays.
Penny loafers have a strap across the upper portion of the shoe, which was originally designed to hold chain or an ornament.
3- Cap toes
Cap toes are essentially decorated oxfords. Dress shoes can be embellished in a number of ways, but a cap toe on oxfords is by far the most common. Oxfords are usually quite spare with no superfluous features on the top portion of the
shoe above the toe. In contrast, cap-toe shoes have an additional layer or band of leather over the toe. The extra portion might be a clean and simple line, in which case you will be able to wear them more frequently.
4- Dress boots
Dress boots are slim, ankle-length boots with a slight heel that fit the foot and leg quite snugly. They perfectly fit both formal dressing and casual wears.
5- Monk strap
This style of shoe refers to dress shoes that are similar to loafers in that they don’t have laces. While loafers are typically plain or tasseled, monk strap shoes have a metallic buckle and a leather strap on the upper portion of the shoe; a feature that also distinguishes them from cap toes, where the leather strap is located above the toe portion of the shoe.
The shoe is designed in such a way that it can be used for both casual and formal outing.
Athletic shoes can be broken up into many categories: Runners, Walkers, Cross-Trainers, Hikers, and Tennis Shoes. Each shoe is designed for the activity in its name and you should be careful to primarily use it for that purpose.
You can wear your walkers and hikers with casual clothes, but make sure that you keep them clean since there texture is not the same as ordinary shoes. The watch word is ‘Keep it clean’. Washing it with hand is more preferable as against using washing machine, which might not be of good to the shoe.
Although Boat shoes are said to be regularly abused by guys, it is meant to be used as the name implies or rather used for activities directly linked to the coast, such as going to the beach or being in a yacht etc. Whatever the case may be, suggestions are that boat shoes be worn with a dress code that compliments it.
Driving Shoes were made for…driving! It’s a crazy concept, but it’s true. Bear in mind, the outsole is run up onto the heel, but that does not mean you can’t wear these shoes outside the car. What else are you going to wear when you get out? Wear them like any other casual shoe and enjoy getting noticed — folks might think you have a fancy car!
If you do drive in them a lot, make sure you use good judgment.
9. Penny Loafers
Penny loafers are very simple looking beautiful shoes. They are so wonderful that they fit into any dressing code. But it’s better not to be worn with shorts or without socks.
10. Saddle Shoes
Saddle shoes are named after; you guessed it, a saddle. Remember how formal equestrian riders dress…fancy. Keep your clothes
nice when pairing them with saddles and let the two-tone shoe pop off your feet (usually by pairing it with blues and oranges.)
We all know this and give it the required respect by properly dressing in it at the appropriate time especially in this our zone where it is usually worn with the native or traditional attires.
Wingtips are the older guys shoes for the office, but they are much more than office attire. The broguing (the holes in your wingtip) can be found on all kinds of shoes. Whenever you’re looking at shoes like this, don’t just get a wingtip for the sake of wingtips.
Make sure the shoe’s profile is wide enough and long enough for your foot. Also, choose broguing that matches your wardrobe, your personality, and your style.Don’t forget when you are polishing your brogued shoes to be careful of the holes. If you stuff polish into the holes you’ll mess up the contrast of the colorless leather inside the hole.
